Throughout Owen’s time at The Northern School of Art, he has experimented using different techniques such as screen-printing and riso-printing in which he feels confident in and came to enjoy, he has also developed his skills digitally such as learning and becoming well versed in Illustrator and InDesign so that eventually that these techniques into the workplace or be developed in more creative spaces to where it can expand and grow further.
After graduation, Owen has the intentions to pursue the short-term goal of working as an in-house Graphic Designer, experiencing the atmosphere of professional designers and aiming to gain contacts to potentially go freelance. Long-term is to potentially teach Graphic Design at a College/University degree to pass on his knowledge and experiences to the newer generations. Owen is potentially going to pursue a postgraduate master’s qualification in the not-so-distant future.
When approaching the Final Major Project, Owen wanted to encounter this situation with felt close to him. Male mental health is something that he felt that wasn’t talked about enough. With the rise of empowering women, there are still huge instances where men are still being mistreated, abused or stereotyped, and since Owen can’t singlehandedly change that overnight, bringing awareness to the situation to make people a little more knowledgeable on the situation that we live in, not to scream louder than other campaigns but to be able to not degrade men and show that everyone matters.

Owen’s project, Showdown. Brings awareness to Male mental health where all of the items used in the campaign are to be disposable, with having playing cards and coasters in pubs, they are more than likely going to be stolen so the bait Is that it’s a nice pack of cards or some coasters in which can send you to a website but the hook is that using them leads to mental health, where people can learn more about how men feel or be treated and brings discussions to others, either by playing the cards or using the coasters and awareness is spread throughout the masses more than someone preaching to others.
Owen developed his skills further throughout this project, learning more about After Effects and illustrator and using experiments and developing the cards through different mediums, using spray-painting and screen-printing to understand the limitations but also changing the theme of the project through experimentation. Learning more about web design and the functions of NFC cards helped develop the technological side further to where people’s interest peak when figuring out how the technology works.
